What is PICO Genesis?
Enlighten PICO Genesis™ introduces an entirely new approach to non-invasively get rid of pigmented lesions (melasma, hyperpigmentation, sun spots) and add skin revitalization for all skin types WITHOUT ANY DOWNTIME, and little to no discomfort! PICO Genesis™ is a great option for those with sensitive skin, and also those who can’t take time off work, or are in sports, or in the public eye.
How It Works
PICO Genesis™ is the only laser of its kind that uses non-thermal, photo-mechanical laser energy to shatter the pigmented cells while protecting the surrounding tissue, in energy and wavelengths that no other laser can do. What is Melasma?
Melasma can be due to hormonal changes during pregnancy or from sun exposure. Women are much more likely than men to develop this condition. The brown or gray-brown patches of melasma appear most often on the cheeks, forehead, nose, and chin. In women, melasma often fades on its own after pregnancy or after an affected woman goes off birth control pills.
What is Benign Pigmented Lesions?
Pigmented skin lesions refer to lesions that are brown, black or blue in colour, or may be confused with brown or black lesions (eg vascular lesions, which sometimes look black with the naked eye but under dermatoscopy appear red, purple or blue). Benign Pigmented Lesions are also referred to as age spots, brown spots, sun spots, hyperpigmentation.
Age spots are the result of an excess production of melanin, or skin pigment. Doctors don’t always know why age spots develop. Skin aging, sun exposure, or other forms of ultraviolet (UV) light exposure, such as tanning beds, are all possible causes. You’re most likely to develop age spots on the areas of your skin that receive the most sun exposure, including:
the back of your hands
your upper back
